Difference between JV & Factory Unlocked iPhone

  • Disclaimer:
The utilization of JV iPhones is deemed unlawful in certain jurisdictions as it bypasses the restrictions set by the carrier, constituting a potential infringement of the carrier's terms of service. When acquiring a locked iPhone, it typically involves a contractual agreement specifying usage with a specific carrier for a designated duration. Employing a JV SIM to unlock the phone prematurely could be construed as a violation of this contract, rendering it illegal.
Between Difference between JV & Factory Unlocked iPhone
Unofficially Liberated iPhones have been released from a specific network provider's grip using third-party software. This approach lacks authorization from the phone manufacturer or service provider and carries inherent risks. In contrast, Factory-Unlocked iPhones are liberated directly by the phone manufacturer or with the service provider's official approval. This method undergoes official verification, ensuring a risk-free experience.
    What is a JV iPhone?
A JV phone is one that has been freed from a specific network provider's chains using third-party software, without the endorsement of the phone manufacturer or service provider which is illegal. It's crucial to highlight that liberating a phone with unverified software carries potential risks, including damage or functionality issues. It could potentially lead to legal issues. These phones may miss out on software updates, and certain features might be unavailable.
    Factory Unlocked iPhones
In contrast to JV iPhones, Officially Liberated iPhones are iPhones that have received official approval from either the phone manufacturer or the service provider. When you acquire an Officially Liberated iPhone, it can be used with any service provider supporting the phone's network technology. This process is entirely authorized and carries no potential risks.
A key advantage of Factory Unlocked iPhones is their continued receipt of software updates and access to all device features. Moreover, they come with a manufacturer's warranty, providing protection in case of any issues.
How to Determine if you're using a JV iPhone?
    • Different Carrier Name: If the status bar displays a carrier name different from the original carrier, it might be JV phone.
    • External SIM Tools: JV phones often come with external tools like R-SIM or Gevey SIM. Check for such tools provided with the phone.
    • Test with Multiple SIM Cards: Inserting SIM cards from various carriers may prompt activation steps.
    • Unexpected Activation Steps: May ask for activation after resets or power cycles, showing custom menus or requiring codes.
    • Check IMEI Status: Online IMEI checkers can indicate the lock status, potentially revealing NOL unlocking.
    • Ask the Seller or Previous Owner: Directly inquire about the unlock status from the seller or previous owner.
    • Temporary Unlocking: JV iPhones are typically not permanently unlocked, and iOS updates or resets may require the special SIM tool again.
    • Performance Issues: Some users report signal strength or cellular data performance issues on NOL unlocked iPhones.
    PTA Tax & JV iPhones
The primary aim of this tax is to boost government revenue and encourage the adoption of locally-manufactured smartphones.
In response to this tax, some individuals have turned to the purchase of JV SIM-unlocked iPhones as a means to circumvent the imposed tax. However, this practice raises concerns for various reasons.
To begin with, utilizing a JV unlocked iPhone might not align with legal regulations in Pakistan, given the government's implementation of a tax to monitor smartphone imports. Additionally, relying on a JV-unlocked iPhone may not offer a sustainable solution, as the government could enact further measures to thwart attempts to evade the tax.
Moreover, the use of JV SIM-unlocked iPhones comes with uncertainties regarding safety and reliability. Since the unlocking process lacks authorization from the phone manufacturer or service provider, it opens the door to potential issues such as compromised network connectivity, software glitches, and hardware damage.
    Travelling with a JV iPhone
In certain instances, employing a JV iPhone might result in legal repercussions, especially if you travel to the country where the phone was initially locked. For instance, if you acquired a locked iPhone in the United States, utilized a JV SIM for unlocking, and subsequently traveled back to the United States while still using the phone, there's a potential risk of facing legal action either from the carrier or Apple. This stems from the fact that you're essentially utilizing the device in a manner not intended by its design, thus violating the terms outlined in your contract with the carrier.
    Conclusion
Navigating the realm of JV iPhones requires careful consideration and awareness of potential consequences. While these devices may offer a workaround to carrier restrictions, their use can pose legal and contractual challenges. From potential legal actions by carriers or manufacturers to the risks of compromised device performance, users should weigh the benefits against the potential drawbacks. It's crucial to be well-informed about the legality of unlocking methods in specific jurisdictions and to make decisions that align with both the user's needs and legal obligations. In the ever-evolving landscape of smartphone technology, staying informed and making responsible choices ensures a smoother and more secure user experience.

THE NUN 2 (2023) Movie Review

The NUN II

Scarier than its predecessor but not being the most original horror sequel. Felt like a fun haunted house ride with a compelling mystery intertwined with all the jump scares you could want. In my opinion it has surpassed the first movie and met my expectations. Excellent cinematography, suggestive setting. Outstanding performance by the protagonist. Excellent cross referencing throughout the movie.

Imported High-End Phones to Get Higher Tax Rates in Upcoming Finance Bill

Fixed amount of sales tax would be replaced with the standard rate of 17 percent sales tax on certain categories of phones.
The policy has been incorporated in the Supplementary Finance Bill 2021, which is to be approved by the National Assembly.
In this regard, mobile phones have been divided into two broader categories.
The first category would cover those mobile phones having import value up to USD 200-250. The second category would include cellphones with a value of above USD 200-250. The sales tax table would be revised under the Sales Tax Act 1990 by placing all kinds of phones in two categories based on their import value in completely built condition (CBU), semi-knocked down (SKD), or completely knocked down (CKD) condition.
Presently, mobile phones are divided into seven categories. These cellular mobile phones or satellite phones are charged on the basis of import value per set, or equivalent value in rupees in case of supply by the manufacturer, at the rate as indicated against each category as per Ninth Schedule to the Sales Tax Act 1990.
Sales tax is charged on the import of mobile phones in the CBU condition at the time of import or registration (IMEI number by CMOs). Sales tax is charged on the import of mobile phones in CKD/SKD condition, and sales tax is charged on the supply of locally manufactured mobile phones in CBU condition.
In extension, Sales tax is charged at Rs. 10-130 to Rs. 9,270 per phone, depending on its import value. For example, Rs. 1,680 fixed amount of sales tax is applicable on the import of mobile phones (CBU condition), where value is exceeding USD 100 but not exceeding USD 200.
Similarly, a fixed amount of sales tax of Rs. 1,740 is applicable on the import of cell phones (CBU condition) where the value is exceeding USD 200 but does not exceed USD 350. Additionally, sales tax of Rs. 5,400 is chargeable on the import of mobile phones in CBU condition exceeding the value of USD 350 but not exceeding USD 500. A fixed amount of sales tax of Rs. 9,270 has been collected on the import of mobile phones in CBU condition exceeding the value of USD 500.
The government’s new policy of taxation on mobile phones is to levy the highest rate of 17 percent sales tax on the import of mobile phones with a value above USD 200. The 17 percent sales tax would be applicable on the import of cellular mobile phones in both the CKD/CBU form. Whereas, the existing lower sales tax rates on the import of mobile phones up to USD 200 would not be changed.
Therefore, cell phones having a value below USD 200 would continue to be charged on the existing rates of mobile phones under the Sales Tax Act.
