Muharram security: Govt imposes ban on pillion riding in Punjab





LAHORE: The government has imposed a ban on pillion riding in Punjab on Muharram 9 and 10
Punjab Law Minister and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah confirmed the imposition of this ban.
Earlier today, a notification was issued when the government banned pillion riding in Lahore.
According to the directives, women, children and elderly will be exempted from the Lahore ban.
Police will be responsible for arresting violators, who could be kept in custody for 72 hours.
Security measures 
As per the security plan for the holy month announced earlier, 15,700 policemen will perform security duty at more than 600 processions and 5,369 majalis in the city.
Around 400 policemen will also perform security duty in plainclothes at processions andmajalis at sensitive locations.
Police would patrol within a 100-metres radius of majalis and processions, while parking lots will be set up 100 metres away from processions and majalis.
